#INDO214: 19th century Dayak war shield with human hair and natural pigment paint.

Only an important person or chief would have this style of shield with painted image and adorned with hair. The intricately painted face is strong with large round eyes, four sharp fangs and Aso heads above the central face. The back image is excellent with two finely drawn intertwined Aso figures on each side of the handle. The condition is very good with some minor dings and scratches from age and use.  50” tall by 16” wide, 19th Century, Kenyah/ Kayan peoples of Borneo, Indonesia. ………..$6500.00
