#OC108: 19th century Fijian war club of the Sali or Spur club form The Sali club is larger with a longer spur and broader flat decorated sides then the more common Gata clubs. The Sali club is named after the sali flower of one of the wild banana-like plants of Fiji, and was used both for battle and dance. Heavy, hard wood in overall good condition with a good patina from age and use. The top crest has one small chip missing, and the very tip of the spur has a small chip that was filled and colored. 19th century Fiji, 43” long by 10” wide with a 5 ½” spur…………………..$2200.00 |
