#OC109: 19th century Fijian war club in the Gata club form This is one of the most widely used types of club of the Fijian warrior. Gata means “snake’ and refers to the Pacific Boa snake. Heavy, hard wood with a very good dark patina from age and use. The handle has carved zig-zag decoration at the base that is well worn from being held. Overall very good condition with a few small chips from battle and use. 19th century or earlier, 41” long by 5” wide with a 2 ¾” spur……………..$1250.00 |
