#OC221: Large old Abelam woven and coiled cane yam mask. This very tightly woven mask has natural pigment colors, and intricate open work sections. Yam masks were used ceremonially to adorn specially grown large yams, and not worn on the face. Previously in the John Haley collection and published in the book “Artist as collector”, item #60 in 1975.
