| #PH303: Rare Philippine sword from the Batangas area of Luzon with very well carved monster handle. Until recently most people thought this sword was from the Sea Dayak (Stones Glossary) of Borneo, but further research (including pieces in the Philippine collection of a Spanish museum) has shown these to be clearly Philippine swords. The horn handle has some damage, and a very unusual silver hand guard. There is one chip missing near the mouth, one crack, and the loss of one silver eye. The heavy Nabur style blade is not in very good condition as it had been rusted and shows signs of being cleaned with mechanical tools. A rare type of sword that has some condition issues and measures 26" overall with a 19 1/2" blade that is 7/16" thick at the back of the blade near the handle. 19th century, Luzon, The Philippines,.............On Hold |
