PH816: Ifugao Head Axe

A good quality Ifugao head axe. This is a real solid user weapon and tool that would have been used for taking heads as well as a general weapon and tool for whatever needed chopping. The blade has a little pitting, but also a good sharp edge. The collar is steel, and the wood handle has a good patina from age and use.

Collected in the Philippines by John Hanson between 1925 and 1927. Purchased form John's daughter who also gave me a magazine article recounting his adventures in the Philippines that was published in 1975.

18" overall with a blade that is 9" long by 4.5" wide. Early 20th century, Luzon, The Philippines.    ....Sold
