AS608: Gurkha Bowie Knife

An unusual and rare type of Gurkha knife with bowie style blade. The construction, technique and materials are just like a kothimora Kukri that were for officers and presentation gifts. This one is well made with quality silver work that has a lions head, crossed kukri, butterfly and a bird. The handle is made of horn and the thick heavy blade has been sharpened. I would guess that this one was made as a gift for British officer, or special ordered without a Kukri style blade. 14.5" overall with a 9" blade that is 5/16" thick at the back edge. Early 20th century, Nepal. Sold
