AF620: Ethiopian Shield

War shield from the Arrusi people of Ethiopia. A fine round example with high relief bump pattern, and intricate surface patterning cut into the front surface. The buffalo hide is formed into a purposeful pattern that may distinguish the status of the owner. The patina is good and dark from age and use.

27" diameter. Early 20th century, Ethiopia, Africa.    ....$1000.00
