PH837: Moro Jungayan Barong

A large and rare Moro Jungayan Barong sword with Shandigan blade. The large expanded cockatoo form Jungayan handle is made with a finely grained wood with a good patina from age and use. The collar is made of silver. The large well foraged Shandigan style blade is hollow ground in the center which produces an expanded edge and a good pattern with hardened edge. Unfortunately no scabbard with this one.    

24 inches overall with a 15 inch blade, 3/8 inch back edge. 19th century Southern Philippines.
