Sudanese Kaskara sword. This type of talisman weapon was used in the Mahdist War of the late 19th century in Sudan for protection and ceremonial purposes, but not made for actual fighting. The blade is thin and a little flexible and acid etched on both sides with Koranic script. The handle is wrapped in skin that retains the hand, and the cross guard is brass or bronze. Unfortunately no scabbard with this one. 31” overall with a 24.5” blade . 19th century, Sudan, Africa. $350.00
